Satellite Parking - If you would be interested in parking in a satellite parking lot off campus and being transported to campus in a van or bus, let us hear from you. We are thinking of ways to make this a viable, convenient alternative.

Commuter Connections' Guaranteed Ride Home Program is sponsored by the Council of Governments - Any registered participant who uses public transit, walks, bikes, carpools, or vanpools to campus is provided with a FREE ride home Monday-Friday 6:00am to 10:00pm up to four times a year for emergency reasons. To register, fill out a form at the University Department of Transportation Services in the Regents Drive Garage or online at www.commuterconnections.org. Commuter Connections can also help you find a carpool or vanpool with people who work in the College Park vicinity.

Ozone Action Days are days when the air quality is predicted to exceed EPA health-based standards. These days are announced by the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Council of Governments and are noted at www.mwcog.org/dep/air/airquality_index.htm, or at the Ozone Action Hotline for the DC area at 202-962-3299. Even if you don’t want to use transportation alternatives on a regular basis, consider using public transit or ridesharing on Ozone Action Days.

If you have other ideas or comments about transportation alternatives, please let us know! Call the University Department of Transportation Services at 301-314-4537.
