CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION: You must hold a valid University of Maryland, College Park ID. You must be currently registered as a student and enrolled in classes during Spring ’08, or must be currently employed by the University of Maryland College Park.
DISCLAIMER: All participants freely consent to the submission of their film/video clip to DOTS and understand that they will receive no financial compensation for the broadcasting of their film or video clip on the Department of Transportation Services Web site. All participants grant DOTS (and its distribution and carriage outlets) the non-exclusive right to broadcast their film/video clip for as long as needed. Once published on the Web site, this material will reside in the public domain. DOTS will not be held responsible for misuse or misrepresentation of material copied from its site.
THE AUDITION PROCESS: Auditions will be held Feb. 7th at Stampfest in the Stamp Student Union, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Feb. 11 at the bus shelter in front of the Stamp Student Union, 11 a.m. - 1p.m. You should therefore plan on arriving as early as allowed at the audition venue. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that you will be seen for auditions. Participants will need to fill out a registration form at the event or can print one here, prior to the event.
WHAT TO BRING TO THE AUDITION: Participants should bring a valid University of Maryland, College Park ID and a signed release from parent or legal guardian if they are under 18 years old.
WHAT TO SING: Participants will be singing a pre-selected song provided by DOTS.
SELECTION: A panel of judges made up of University students and employees will select the top five contestants based on: vocal ability, vocal quality, enthusiasm, and University spirit. These top five contestants will then be submitted for a final nonbinding vote of the general University of Maryland population on the DOTS Web site, www.transportation.umd.edu/dotsidol.
PRIZE: The winner of the contest will receive the grand prize of an iPod touch.
NOTIFICATION: The winner will be notified by telephone and e-mail. The winner will be given 3 days from the time of the notification to respond and claim the prize. If DOTS is unable to contact the winner or if the winner does not respond in 3 days, the prize will be forfeited and another potential winner will be selected. The winner will be required to record the official version of the song for use on the DOTS Web site which will run the length of a future promotion. Once published on the Web site, this material will reside in the public domain. DOTS will not be held responsible for misuse or misrepresentation of material copied from its site.
