The Department of Transportation Services continues to be committed to the development of both the students and full-time employees that work for us. Many of our student employees go on to work full-time for us after graduation. This year alone we hired a student employee full-time into our IT department and our Shuttle Management department.
Student Drivers (continuously hiring)
DOTS Shuttle-UM drivers provide safe, dependable, on-time transportation to University of Maryland students, faculty, and staff. The position involves paid training, flexible hours, and advancement opportunities. Drivers earn $7.25/hr during training, which increases to $10/hr after completion of training and CDL licensing.

Earn a $1,000 Scholarship!! We are also offering new Shuttle-UM drivers a $1,000 scholarship after they go through CDL Training and receive their CDL License. This scholarship will only be granted to new student drivers who commit to working as a Shuttle-UM driver for four consecutive academic semesters. We are looking for students who have drive, dedication, and of course need a job. That’s why we are hiring students to train over the Summer Break for 2 weeks in order to obtain their CDL and become Shuttle-UM Drivers. Candidates would receive 7.25/hour paid training!
There are only a few requirements for eligibility:
more »Student trainees will live and eat on-campus for free during the two week program. Once hired, you will have the opportunity to earn some cash before Summer Break by going through classroom training in April and/or May in order to obtain your CDL permit, which is required to practice driving a bus under supervision.
