The Department of Transportation Services 2009 parking information outlines permit policies and procedures. In the past, this information was sent via mail with your parking permit. However, this year to increase our sustainablilty efforts, the department has decided to make this information available online. Click below to read publication or download a pdf version.
- DOTS Rules & Regulations – As a permit holder, it is your responsibility to read and become acquainted with the rules and regulations associated with parking on campus. The rules and regulations are available online at www.transportation.umd.edu. Click on the About Us tab.
- Online Ticket Appeal/Payment – In the unlikely event you are issued a citation, we strongly encourage you to appeal or pay the citation online at www.transportation.umd.edu. It is fast, efficient and safe!

Dear Lot 4, 6, 9, or 11, Commuter and Resident Permit Holder:
As a holder of a lot 4, 6, 9, or 11 permit, regrettably, you will experience some parking adjustments prior to and during the men’s home basketball games. We understand that these adjustments are somewhat inconvenient; however, at times we are tasked with accommodating larger than normal crowds on campus. The following information is a guide to parking on campus during the men’s home basketball games. The first game of the Men's Basketball Season is on Tuesday, November 3rd at 8:00 p.m. against Indiana, PA. PLEASE NOTE: ALL VEHICLES MUST BE REMOVED BY 5:00 PM ON THIS DAY.
You must move your vehicle from your designated lot to Lot 1 beginning as early as six hours, but no later than three hours prior to the start of every home men’s basketball game both during the week and for weekend games (Saturday and/or Sunday). You may begin moving your car six hours prior to game time and no later than three hours prior to game time. You must remove your car from Lot 1 by 7 a.m. the following morning of each game. You may check for the updated schedule on the following Web sites: www.umterps.com
Vehicles remaining in the above lots three hours prior to the game will be ticketed ($75 fine) and relocated ($95 relocation fee) at the owner’s expense. Vehicles remaining in Lot 1 after 7 a.m. the following morning will be ticketed ($75 fine). The towing fee will be applied directly to your student account. Please call 301-314-PARK with any questions you may have regarding these instructions.
If you have an academic commitment that affects your ability to move your vehicle on a specific game day as outlined above, it is imperative that you provide documentation to our office so that we may offer you options for that game day. We will only make exceptions if your academic commitment does not allow you to move your car within the time window noted above. We will only make exceptions if you provide the documentation prior to the day of the game. Exceptions will not be made if you provide the documentation the day of the game or any time thereafter.
Transportation options are available to you during the weekdays as follows:
On the weekends, you may call NITE Ride (x4NITE) for assistance. Detailed schedules can be found at www.transportation.umd.edu.
• Take Campus Connector North or South (depending on your housing location) to your assigned lot and move your car to Lot 1 -- again at least three hours prior to the start of every game.
• You may ride Campus Connector North or South (prior to 5:30 p.m.), or Gold or Orange routes (after 5:30 p.m.) to return to your residence hall.
• If you choose to move your car back to your designated lot that same evening, you may take the Gold or Orange routes to Lot 1. If you choose to move your vehicle back between 3 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., you may call NITE Ride at 301-314-NITE (6483).
Thank you for taking the time to review these guidelines, and for your cooperation in assisting us to fulfill both the academic and athletic missions of our University. We wish you well in this new semester. Please join me in wishing success to the Maryland Terps!
Sincerely,
J. David Allen Director
