Tow Information
If you would like to verify that your vehicle was towed or relocated by the Department of Transportation Services (DOTS), you may contact DOTS during business hours at 301-314-7179 or the Department of Public Safety at 301-405-3555 at all other times.
Relocation
Vehicle relocation occurs on home football game days, when vehicles are parked in the numbered spaces in lots 1or Z. They are relocated to non-numbered spaces in Lot 1d. A relocation fee will be charged either through a student account or an invoice.
Vehicle relocation occurs on home basketball game days when students who have Campus License Plate Registration for lots 11, 9, 6, 4 or 4b have not moved their vehicles to Lot 1 by the appropriate time. These vehicles are relocated to Lot K4, which is next to the greenhouses. A relocation fee will be charged either through a student account or an invoice.
Students
UMCP students may request a Student Ticket Review Section (STRS) review by filing an online review
through the DOTS website, or by completing the requested information on the PVN and returning the parking violation notice in person or by mail to the DOTS office.
If you would like to dispute this decision, you may submit a second appeal to the University Appellate Board, which is part of the Office of Student Conduct. To appeal, you must submit a written request in person at the DOTS office within 7 business days from the date of the decision letter. Before submitting your appeal, you must pay the fine associated with the citation up to $50.00 of the amount due at the DOTS office. The front desk will accept your written appeal with the receipt from your payment. Your appeal must include a clear explanation of why you would like your ticket invalidated or reduced. This request should include relevant information that was not mentioned in the first appeal. You may include copies of any supporting documents. If the University Appellate Board overturns the decision by STRS, your $50.00 payment will be refunded. University Appellate Board decisions are final and will render all prior STRS decisions null and void. For more information please call 301-314-7275.
UMUC student appeals will be reviewed by the DOTS Parking Violation Review Manager, however second reviews are not available to UMUC students.

Unresolved Parking Violations
A Parking violation notice (PVN) that remains unpaid after the 15 day grace period or after a reduced or
denied appeal, is considered unresolved. DOTS may take one or more of the following steps to achieve resolution:
- 1. A late fee of $20 will be assessed.
- 2. Vehicles with three outstanding PVNs that are more than 15 days old may be towed at the owner's expense. Vehicles will not be released until those outstanding fines and fees are satisfied.
- 3. The PVN may be referred to the state MVA Flagging Program or Central Collection Unit for action, and all unresolved fines may be added to the university student account. Personal checks will not be accepted for ticket payment under the State MVA Flagging Program. Students may be responsible for PVNs issued to vehicles owned by family members. Income tax returns may be garnished for settlement of unresolved PVNs.
